MLM stands for multi-level-marketing. How this works is you make money monthly from people, you promote to sign up to a MLM program. Starting your own MLM business is great because you reap the rewards that you put into in and can make a generous amount of money each month. MLM and Network Marketing are one and the same business call it whichever.

The idea of MLM is that you get people to sign up under you in your selected MLM business then you are paid for those labors. However, the great thing that happens is that you also get paid for the efforts that those people under you bring to the table. Each MLM have different levels. For each level, there is a comp plan. This is why starting your own MLM is so huge!

Keep in mind you receive payment repeatedly again from the first effort but there are difficulties in MLM. MLM demands a lot of dedication and hard work. There will be the joiners that do nothing. These expect everything to be handed to them. They will not use the products they will not use the tools that you are giving them. In addition, most of the time the tools are free. Remember, it is a proven fact that only 10% are dedicated. However, I would want to get the point across that "traditional" MLM has you both recruiting family and friends or BUYING leads...both methods proven ineffective and is why most people fail.

Most MLM prospects will lose, or break even because of expensive products, tools (promotional material, tapes, and books). Facts show that 1/3 of 1% break even.

Just relying on leads will not make you successful in network marketing. Some lists that you purchase from marketing firms are old or some names on list are from your past. However, maybe this time is the right time for them. Maybe now is right time for them to join your business.

Other than leads, get referrals. Today there are many ways to talk to people via the internet. Forums, blogs and articles are becoming the in thing for meeting and talking with potential prospects.  Join a community get to know more people.

If you are a hands-on person, organize an event at a hotel or convention center promoting your product. Send out invitations, call people have everyone bring someone with them. For your new MLM targeted leads, use the names that signed up on the registry.

For the smaller budget, have home parties promoting your products. People are always open to new products.

People are not duplicable, systems are. Knowing how to brand yourself and develop your own leads is how the truly successful MLM net worker succeeds. Buying leads and relying on your family and friends is the quickest way to the poor house.

As you can see, there are many ways to work MLM. Remember hard work, determination and new friends.
